GENERAL

What's been the highlight of your careers so far?

Being asked to perform for The Ritz on Christmas day, performing for HRH The Prince of Wales and our annual residency for VIP hospitality at Henley on Thames. For Vic specifically: her song Back To You being used on the season 5 finale trailer for The Affair. For Charlie specifically: performing as George Ezra’s guitarist on his last arena tour and for his performance at The Royal Albert Hall.

How did you meet?

We met through our mutual, excellent friend Ross (also a musician)!

What kind of events do you usually perform at?

We specialise in weddings, drinks receptions, wedding ceremonies, evening wedding receptions, corporate parties and events, product launches, festivals, networking events, conferences, cocktail receptions, birthday dinners, birthday parties, PR events, garden parties, summer parties and BBQs.

Who are your previous clients?

Our previous clients include: The Ritz, Harrods, Coca Cola, Garnier, Microsoft, Paypal, Henley Royal Regatta, The Four Seasons, Belnheim Palace, Goodwood, Black Rock Capital, Unilever, The Shard, Arsenal FC, Bain Capital, BNY Mellon, Boston Consulting Group, BMW, Aston Martin, The Mandarin Oriental, IMG Media, Sky Garden, Shoredich House, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Holidays, Boots, Stoke Park Club, The Royal Navy, The Royal Airforce, The Army, UKTV and Scotts.

How far do you travel?

We travel throughout the UK and worldwide.

We have a strong demand in London and the South East. When quoting outside of these areas quotes will reflect the additional travel time required. Depending on timings, quotes may also require overnight accommodation and travel days.

Overseas performances will require the following:

– Flights;
– Domestic and foreign transfers;
– Accommodation;
– Visas (if applicable);
– Per diem (covers daily meals and expenses);
– Travel days (covers time out of the diary due to travelling);
– Vaccination/immunisation costs (if applicable);

We will also generally require backline equipment to be hired and delivered to site (or for a production company to be engaged to provide this equipment).

BOOKING

How can I/we book?

Once you’ve confirmed you’re booking you’ll be provided with a booking contract which will include all the details of your booking, along with details of how to pay the 25% deposit online. From there we’d provide you with some helpful info and schedule in a call for around 4 weeks before the big day (you’re welcome to contact us at any time though). On this call we’ll go through all  the details we’ll need to make everything run smoothly on the day.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit in advance, which is payable by BACS.

What happens once we've booked?

We’ll contact you 2-4 weeks in advance of your event with our questionnaire. This gathers together all the info we need in one document which we use as a single point of reference on the day itself.

I'm not 100% on timings yet, is this a problem?

Generaly this isn’t a problem. We’ll agree on/the contract will state the time period over which we’ll play, a ‘not starting before’ and ‘not finishing after’ time and the times are TBC. An example for a wedding drinks reception might be:

‘2 x 45 minute performances over 3 hours, start and finish time TBC, not starting before midday and not finishing after 5pm’

Can we come and watch you perform live?

As most of our performances are for private clients, this will depend on us being able to find a client (in a suitable location) who is happy to have you pop in.

If you’d like to come and enjoy a full performance, we do perform some open gigs. These are usually in London. Please ask for more info.

EQUIPMENT & SET-UP

Do you provide your own equipment?

We provide all sound equipment – the only things we’ll need from you are two standard 13amp plug sockets.

Our standard set-up is suitable for audiences of up to 150 people, although we’re also able to cater to larger audiences. If you have more than 150 guests please let us know when you enquire.

Lighting, including dance floor lighting, is provided as standard for evening performances by all line-ups apart from the duo and trio (for which only stage lighting is provided). If you’re booking the duo or trio for an evening performance and require dance floor lighting please let us know this when you enquire.

How long does it take you to set up?

It takes us 15 minutes to set our equipment up (though we can do it in 5 at a push!). We generally arrive one hour before our performance start time to ensure we’re set up in good time.

How much space do you need/how big is your equipment?

Duo/Trio

As of 2017, we have upgraded to a state of the art Bose L1 PA system. As well as offering incredible sound, it’s also a single unit which is surprisingly small and light.

In terms of space, we’d generally recommend:

  • Duo – at least 2m x 1m
  • Trio – at least 3m x 2m
  • Quartet – at least 3m x 3m

…although we are quite flexible. If you’re in doubt please feel free to send us an image of your space and we’ll be happy to advise.

Other line-ups:

Other line-ups might require different equipment and have different space requirements. Please ask when you quote and we’ll be happy to advise.

Can we play our own music via your PA?

We generally advise on playing our own playlist during the interval, just to ensure an even tone between sets. However, if this is something that’s important to you please let us know so that we can make sure it’s accommodated.

We now also offer the option to hire our PA before and after performances in order to play your own music.

If you would like to play your own music we will provide the necessary cable for you to do so. You can provide your playlist via any mp3 player, smartphone, device, tablet or laptop with a headphone jack. We recommend bringing a charging lead for your device and a backup.

Can you perform outside?

We’re happy to perform outside! If you’d like us to perform outside please let us know when you request your quote.

We can't provide power, is this a problem?

It all depends on the nature of the event and the number of people attending. For drinks receptions, summer parties and dinners for up to 150 people, we now have the Bose S1, a powerful battery operated PA system.

Please enquire when you quote and we’ll be happy to advise.

Can we use your equipment for speeches?

Please ask about this when you request a quote so that we can ensure that all timings work.

What happens during the interval?

The length of your intervals will depend on what you’ve requested. As standard we suggest intervals between sets of between 15 and 45 minutes.

During the interval we will put on a suitable playlist.

VENUE REQUIREMENTS

Do you have Public Liability Insurance/PLI?

Yes we do. We are able to provide the certificate for your venue, upon request.

Do you have PAT certification?

Yes we do. We are able to provide the certification for your venue, upon request.

My venue has a limiter and/or noise restrictions, is this okay?

If your venue has a limiter please let us know this when you ask for a quote. Please ask your venue what their noise restrictions are. This will usually include the maximum noise limit (measured in decibels) and a cut off time for amplified live music.

We will advise on a line-up that will best meet both your preferences and your venue’s noise restrictions.

Will you be too loud?

Musicians can have a bit of a reputation for loving the sound of their own instruments. Our priority is to meet your preferences. If at any point you or your venue request for the volume to be turned down, we’ll be happy to do this.

If you’ve asked for background music we’ll be at a suitable level to allow guests to continue their conversations without having to raise their voices.

We’re also happy to turn the volume up, at your request, within reason! 🙂

REPERTOIRE/SONG LIST & SONG REQUESTS

Can you learn a song/songs for us?

Yes, absolutely. Please ask for more info when you request a quote.

In 5 years we have only turned down one song request…a dance song with a saxophone melody and no vocal…Vic wasn’t up for the challenge. 🙂

There's a song we like...but we're not sure it will work...what do you think?

We love taking challenging songs and making them out own. Examples include:

  • Guns n’ Roses – Sweet Child of Mine – for a bridal entrance;
  • The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition – for an exit, which actually worked really well;
  • Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond- for a first dance, we went full Shirley Bassey and it was GREAT. 🙂

If you have a song in mind please ask when enquiring.

Do you perform in any other genres?

We’re all experienced jazz musicians and we also perform as a jazz band. We have a full jazz repertoire including jazz covers of modern songs. Please ask for more info.

Can you make a recording of a song for us?

We are able to arrange to make a professional studio recording of your song or songs. This can then be provided as an .mp3 or on a gift CD. Prices vary (sometimes the price can be reduced by recording for multiple clients in one session). Please enquire for more info.

The audience will include a wide age range. Can you play 'something for everyone'?

Absolutely. We have a wide-ranging, eclectic repertoire and a lot of experience meeting this request!

Here’s a testimonial from a client who booked us to perform at the family-friendly event village of a Triatholon at Blenheim Palace in 2017:

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you for helping make our event such a success this weekend. You were so great to work with and your sound fitted perfectly with our family festival feel. We’ve had some lovely comments about the event village and how the addition of live music made them want to stay around, which is what we wanted!”

Can you start chilled and work upbeat?

When it comes to drinks receptions and dinners, this is our most popular request. Yes, we can absolutely do this.

Can you do something upbeat/get people up dancing?

Yes, absolutely we can. If you’re looking to get people on the dance floor we recommend the trio at a minimum, as drums have a really important part to play in this.

We can get people up and dancing as a duo, but the duo is better suited to a bit of light informal dancing…rather than a packed dance floor.

Although, if you have a free bar…anything is possible 🙂

How many breaks do you take/how long are they?

2 x 45: a break of between 15 minutes – 1 hour 2 x 60: a break of between 20 minutes – 1 hour 3 x 45: two breaks of between 15 minutes – 45 minutes 4 x 45: three breaks of between 15 minutes – 45 minutes

If you have any other questions, or if there’s anything else we can help you with please get in touch.
