BOULDER, Colo.—Sanitas Advisors and BusinessOutside partnered again this year to bring 50 executives and seven leading innovative start-up companies here for the 5th Annual Eyecare Innovation Summit. The three-day annual gathering is an invite-only event where C-level executives mix with emerging companies in the healthcare industry. "We aim to turn the standard industry conference on its head by creating an environment where operators can conduct meaningful conversations outside of comfort zones, outside of outdated norms as well as outside in nature," said Bart Foster, founder and CEO, BusinessOutside.

This year's focus was on emerging companies that are utilizing AI platforms in conjunction with the eye as a non-invasive gateway to analyzing and assessing a person's overall health. Keynote speakers from Meta (Kes Puckorius) and National Strategic Group (Eugene Shatsman) presented as well as the companies Retispec, Toku, Macuject, Amplify Hearing, Spect, Micro Medical Devices and Lunovus which were hand picked by Sanitas Advisors' partners John Walborn and Jeff Poe. They joined the executive leaders in Boulder to discuss and debate the inevitable changes affecting eyecare, healthcare and the future of the industry.

"Whether it is Alzheimer's, cardiovascular disease, or traditional ocular issues such as AMD, new software, hardware and treatments are emerging that can help both patients and doctors decide much earlier on a path toward better outcomes than with current methods," said Walborn, noting that the innovators shared their biggest challenges, while industry executives provided their perspectives through shared experiences, advice and mentorship."

Sanitas thanked TSO, UnitedHealthcare, ClearVision and Visibly for their sponsorship of the event.
