MAKE A CHOICE

COMPUTER GAME, FEDERATION SQUARE ATRIUM

Federation Square Atrium was home to ‘Make
a Choice’. Modeled on an old-style computer platform game like Mario Bros and set up in a retro lounge, the players moved through three environments of increasing difficulty, making decisions that would determine their health and the health of the environment.

Selecting healthier options at each stage of the game resulted in your character remaining healthy and fit and the landscape staying vibrant and undamaged. Repeated unhealthy decisions, such as drinking soft drink instead of water, eating a hamburger instead of a banana, driving a car instead of riding a bicycle, led to the player’s healthy avatar becoming obese, unfit and lacking energy and to the surrounding environment becoming dull and degraded. The player could turn this around by making healthier choices. The avatar never dies – there is always the opportunity to try again and to get healthier.
