SMS INTERACTIVE PROJECTION ON IOOF TOWER, COLLINS STREET 

The IOOF building was the site for ‘Generosity’ 
a text-based interactive projection artwork
 that could only be viewed at night. The side of the building was turned into a giant projection screen which displayed content sent from the city’s mobile phones and online contributions.
 The projections were best viewed from Southbank footbridge on the Yarra River and Southgate as they added something new and unexpected to the city skyline.

Players were asked to find out how others feel about ‘generosity’, and to add their own definition by sending a text message or online submission. This idea for a participatory projection paid homage to a decade of work and exploration by Visionary Images intent on collaboration and ways of making cultural expression democratic.
