According to him, Kihonge built the magnificent structure when very few people could afford to build such.

The fears were compounded by the fact that it was located in a poor neighbourhood, and construction was stopped due to sewer issues.

"By the time he won the case, nobody was willing to live in the house, so the rumor spread like wildfire," he said.

House looks like "owl"

The rumours were compounded by the fact that the house has a unique architecture, making it look like it had owl eyes at the top.

It soon became another abandoned mansion, engulfed by overgrown vegetation and hounded by eerie tales among the locals.

Njohi explained that he made the daring visit to shed new light on what many locals have believed for years.

House trended in 2022

In May 2022, the house was a trending topic online when a photo of the front face was shared online.

Most residents claimed they avoid the area after dark as much as the rumours remain unproven.

The rumours gave rise to rich, tall tales of Kenyans claiming they had experienced eerie feelings around the house.
