Nakuru Man Who Chased Away Children after Wife's Death Busted Exhuming Body

Nakuru - Police in Elburgon are investigating a case where a 43-year-old man was found digging up his wife's body, who died and was buried in February 2023 in Munyukwa village.

The man was found digging up the body on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Confirming the incident, the local Chief Jonnah Komen said he got information from the assistant chief Haron Koima, who had visited the suspect's house after being informed by the public.

"The suspect threatened my assistant with a dangerous weapon. He called me to inform me about the incident. Shortly after, one of the suspect's children informed me that his father was digging up their mother's grave in a mysterious manner," said Chief Komen.

Kicked out his children

He revealed that the suspect was living alone, having kicked out his sons when his wife died.

In a story published by Taifa Leo, Chief Komen said the man was arrested with the help of his fellow chiefs, members of Nyumba Kumi and citizens.

"When he found out we were looking for him, he escaped to a neighbouring maize field, but we managed to catch him. We took him to the Elburgon Police Station, where he is being held pending charges in court," he said.

It is said that the man was not getting along with the neighbours.

A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said the man joined a sect that may have played a part in misleading him.

"We believe that the police investigation will establish the truth about his actions," he said.

Investigations under DCI

Chief Komen said his case has already been taken by officers of the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to determine the reason for wanting to exhume the body of his late wife.

His wife's grave had been half uncovered, with the cross placed aside before it was covered again.

Chief Komen said tools such as shovels, axes and shovels found in the grave will help the police to investigate.
