"I have not taken a picture here since I was little, so coming back and taking a picture with my own children was very special. There was a line at the time and we waited about 15 minutes or so. Definitely worth it. We met other families and we all took turns taking pictures for each other."

"Fun experience and worth every penny. We had a fantastic experience walking the grounds. We took the tour and had Brian as our guide. After we were able to speak with the grounds keeper who maintains the gardens. Both were very knowledgeable, and you can tell they love what they do. What we feared would be a tourist trap turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip."

"Visiting The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory was truly a magical experience. The moment you step inside, you are transported to a tropical paradise filled with hundreds of colorful butterflies flitting around you. The conservatory is beautifully designed and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making for a truly enjoyable experience.

One of the highlights of the visit was the butterfly feeding station, where you can watch these beautiful creatures up close as they sip nectar from flowers. It was a wonderful opportunity to observe their delicate wings and vibrant colors.

In addition to the butterflies, there are also several other species of birds and exotic plants to admire. The conservatory has a peaceful and serene atmosphere, which makes it the perfect place to relax and take in the natural beauty around you.

The staff are incredibly passionate about their work, and it's evident in the care and attention they give to the butterflies and the conservation efforts they support. They are happy to answer any questions and provide interesting facts about the different species in the conservatory.

Overall, visiting The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory was an unforgettable experience. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit to witness the beauty of these magnificent creatures and their natural habitat. I highly recommend it for nature lovers and anyone seeking a peaceful and enchanting escape."

"Another must see site here in Key West. Our Tour Guide was Charlotte Strickland and she was excellent and had a full history of the Fort and it's use over several wars that involved the United States, starting with the Civil War. All of the Civil War Guns are authentic to the Fort, and the history of how they were discovered buried around the Fort is pretty unique. They only do the Guided Tour once a day, at 11:00 AM, so don't miss it, give yourself some extra time to drive in because mostly like there will be some length of line to pay and enter. The cost to drive in is between $5-$10 depending on how many people are on your car. Walk-ins are only $1.00 and those on a bike, $2.00. The best part is you can use the parking ticket all day, so you can come back later and catch beautiful sunsets like we did overlooking the ocean. After the Tour which was about 60 minutes we walked over to the Beach Cafe and had Lunch overlooking the Ocean Front. Good service and food at the Cafe, plus Beer and Wine. Oh, did I forget to mention that the fee included access to the State Park and awesome Beach, the Southern Most Beach in the United States. This is a complete win for anyone who comes to Key West, history, cool beach, most beautiful water, a State Park with benches and shady areas to enjoy the day, and awesome sunsets that you will always remember.

Highly recommended!!!"

"If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” Words to live by this museum was a pretty fun experience. I learned quite a bit and our tour guide, Greg M., was extremely informative and pleasant. The property is very well maintained and there are a lot of cool details to look at, facts to read. The outdoors had some beautiful flowers and the grounds are very pretty to walk around or even have celebrations. President Truman made some tough choices and not everyone likes someone who goes against the grain, but now, everyone may see differently. Definitely a lot of respect for him and a big thank you to everyone who keeps this place going so generations can continue to enjoy it and learn."

"A very interesting stop that’s certainly worth the stop. Nicely maintained Keepers House where the museum is located. Found the rooms highlighting Florida Coastal Lighthouses, especially the information on General Meade’s contributions to be very interesting. The economic history of Key West was also extremely well presented.

The climb to the top of the lighthouse (88 steps) is not recommended for some. We encountered a couple of people who turned around and came back down after only a little bit of climbing. The spiral staircase is very tight. Two landings along the climb allow for passage, but they are the only places people can pass. Observe the ‘one way’ traffic up on the viewing walkway at the top - room is tight up there also. The views are worth the climb."

"I remember hearing about Mel Fisher's amazing discovery of the Atocha shipwreck when I was a kid, so I was excited to visit the museum and see many of the artifacts in person.

The museum is located near Mallory Square across from the Opal Key resort, and it is the perfect place to spend a couple hours inside especially if the weather turns rainy in Key West.

We purchased our tickets just inside the main door and I think the price was around $17 for adults plus I think we paid $1 or so extra to use a guided headset that tells more about the displays. I was happy to see that we could pay with a credit card - unlike the Ernest Hemingway house which only takes cash.

One of the displays is a short video around 15 minutes long or so that tells a bit about Mel Fisher and his discovery of the Atocha. Throughout the museum there are various artifacts including coins, gold, silver, jewelry, chains, and cannonballs. There are many wall panels containing historic information about the ship, the history of the area, and even pirates.

I enjoyed my visit to this museum and recommend it if you have a couple extra hours in Key West."

"Sara gave a great Tank Talk while we were there! We learned about a few different types of conchs and chocolate chip star fish. We loved walking by each tank and looking at each setup. There was even a coral nursery which is very important. You can order ahead online and get a combined ticket with the shipwreck museum at a discount. They even said it would get you a two day admission but we went yesterday and we're heading back to Tampa today. But if you had kids or you wanted to get out of the sun or absorb some AC that might be a good idea!"

"The shipwreck museum is a cool little piece of history on the different journeys and ventures to the Florida Keys from sail ships over in England. It has many artifacts that have been recovered from divers over the years. You feel like you're in an old ship but beware it does have a musky underground odor at times in the beginning of the trip especially. There are a few videos to watch along the way. The history is neat. You can touch a few things inside. The best part for sure was climbing to the top of the tower at the end. Gives you a great view probably the best on the island next to the lighthouse because you're closer to the water here. I'd go for that alone again."

"It seems odd to review a cemetery, but this is a must see when touring Key West. Sad but interesting to see the above ground burials and the varying levels of caretaking and the breadth of people who have been laid to rest here. You will experience a range of emotions as you walk from the section where 59 unknown babies were sponsored and buried, to the section where many adorned their placards with verses that will make you laugh (ex: “I always said I would own a small piece of land in The Keys”). Well worth an hour or so of your time."

"This house is a captivating snippet of early Key West settlement. The estate is a fine example of the possessions and dwellings of a wealthy sailor, Captain Geiger. The furniture, doors, construction methods, and the cookhouse are noteworthy. I was particularly interested in what appear to be an early example of roller skates. Mr. Audubon's artwork may be purchased at the store. Student discount admission is available."

"One of my favorite National Parks in the country! It was such a great experience to visit and see this beautiful place that has a couple beaches on each side! The park rangers were amazing and very informative about the history of the park! I took the ferry to get here which takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to get here but I definitely enjoyed it! You can snorkel around the fort, camp (with a year in advanced reservation), walk all around the fort and learn all of its history! Definitely recommend visiting!"

"Visiting Key West Tropical Forest was one of the best parts of my trip!! There is a bunch of different wildlife, including colorful butterflies at this location. I loved how well maintained the forest/garden was. The pathway to walk on was cleaned & the staff was friendly. We went early in the morning so it wasn’t crowded. We saw the staff cleaning/maintaining the property & a group on ladies doing yoga. Overall, such a great experience seeing all of the tropical plants."

There is limited public parking available (around 50-60 spots) at the mallory Square itself for $5 per hour else you can do street parking for the same price.

The lady at the front desk was super helpful and extremely nice. Looks like she really enjoy her job there and I don't blame her. "This place is educational and has so much history. I lessened so much a bout Key West here.
It's a self guided tour but I am sure if you wanted they may have guided tours.
Robert the Doll is here. You must ask permission to take his photo. They tell you before the tour, is in the pamphlet and it's on the walls. The history of Robert is posted behind him.
There are other dolls that have their own house outside.
Overall this fort is fascinating and a must see.

"Awesome experience! Our pilot Damien was top notch, very professional and friendly. I thought I might be nervous as it was my first time in a helicopter but not at all. "This is actually my second trip with Key West Seaplane Adventures and it was as awesome as the first I did a few years ago! We did a half-day excursion to Dry Tortugas National Park (the last one of the day) on 11/21 and basically had the entire island to ourself since the ferry was leaving as we landed. While more expensive, the sea plane is so worth it - especially as someone who gets seasick easily. 30-40 minutes of travel time each way vs 2.5-3 hours, plus the aerial views and experience of landing/taking off on the water is really cool. Britt was our pilot and did a wonderful job sharing insight and facts along the way and made sure each side of the plane had great photo opps. It was rainy (obviously not something anyone could control) but we were just glad we were able to go and had a great time regardless! Very convenient to have snorkel gear and drinks taken care of for us even though due to the rain, we didn’t end up snorkeling. We really enjoyed spending our time on the island exploring all the levels of the fort. The park is definitely a bucket list item and the team at Key West Seaplane Adventures was so helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the experience!"

The energy of the gallery is oozing with creativity and playfulness. All of the pieces in the gallery speak so authentically to the mystic of the Keys. I love shopping here, not just because I'm supporting a locally and woman owned business, but because the talent that is showcased here (and only here) is truly one of a kind. "My husband and I vacationed in Key West this March. We like to buy something meaningful from our travels to remind us of the wonderful places we have been. We looked for a few days for that special ‘Key West’ something and came across The Alan Maltz gallery. I instantly knew what I wanted to bring home. A gorgeous framed photograph called Endless Journey. It looks like paradise, the colors are striking and I instantly feel relaxed looking at it. The gallery has something for everyone in every price range and it was a pleasure meeting, Alan Maltz himself and hearing the story behind some of his photographs. Stop in. You won’t be disappointed!"

"Amanda is a talented painter, whose work has a cool, island vibe! Her place is GREAT! I know, her Key West Chicken & Rooster Paintings are really popular & those are awesome but I love the Sunset & Palm Tree paintings with the gold leaf the best. 🙂 She's got a lot of smaller pieces that make great artsy-fun, Key West gifts & perfect housewarming/hostess gifts, too!

I've known her personally, for 11yrs. We became friends because we're neighbors on the Fabulous 500 Block of Fleming St. & I'm so glad she's here! Our little block is 100% LOCALLY Owned & Operated & on the island of Key West - that's kind of a big deal... SHOP LOCAL KEY WEST!"

We did end up buying a piece, Ann's Beach II, which I fell in love with the moment I saw it. After our decision to purchase was made, the purchase process was quick and efficient. I can't wait to finally get it in!"

"Key West is full of hidden gems, but none more charming than Sacred Space Gallery! Tucked just off Duval St, this unique art space is well worth a visit. It’s filled with one-of-a-kind art work created by women artists. Initially, I stopped in to browse, but was quickly welcomed by Lucy Hawk, artist and gallery owner. She explained the concept and showed me the artists’ work and class spaces as well as their artwork. I purchased a couple of Lucy’s own amazing cut-paper prints. Since then, I’ve added more prints to my collection! Not only is Lucy a gifted artist herself, but she encourages others to explore their own creativity of expression at Sacred Space Gallery. Put a visit to this gallery on your Key West bucket list."

"Hands down one of my favorite shops in Key West. It’s a delightful shop and gallery that stands out from the schlocky t-shirt and souvenirs shops. All pieces are created by a husband and wife team that live in the area and occasionally come in. The shop clerk Sue was extremely knowledgeable of the technique and dye applications. She also didn’t force you to purchase and gave you space to mull over even if that meant coming back or placing an order over the phone. I purchased and had my piece shipped. It arrived maybe due to location, 48 hours later. Considering purchase a much larger piece but first need to figure out where it will go."

"Free Florida fun though not exactly the best place to rest unless you count hanging out on the seawall! Not to be unfair, there is one covered picnic area sans table.

Anyway, it's a small park. The beach itself is very narrow and not unlike other Keys beaches it's rocky with coral and full of seagrass. You'd have to be pretty ambitious to lay out here.

...but there's a few good parking spots, plenty of shade, and lots of chickens if you're looking for pictures."

There was time for free ski and you could play on your jet ski in the water or do some snorkeling. Jet skis were in great condition.

Also rented mopeds for three days while on the island. THIS IS A MUST!!! If you want to see the whole island and experience it ALL, then rent mopeds during your stay. There is adequate parking for them all over the city."

During the snorkeling portion, Bryan was eager to point out and share information about the different marine life we saw. The electric boat was a quiet bonus that we didn't expect to be such a nice perk of the experience.
It was very clear that the whole team at Honest Eco cares a lot about the experience they provide and the positive impact they can have on educating others as well as protecting the wild life in the Florida Keys. We hope to make another trip out with Honest Eco in the future!

I own Key West Local Luxe - the jewelry store across the street & I have really enjoyed having this cool shop on our block - an awesome addition (even though it's been a few years, now! - Sorry, it took me so long to write this, Bill!)

They're also great neighbors on the Fabulous 500 Block of Fleming St. A 100% LOCALLY Owned & Operated Business Block, on an island where that's kind of a big deal... SHOP LOCAL KEY WEST!"

"I absolutely adore Besame Mucho. I wish it was where I live! I think their curated selection is wonderful and there is something for everyone. It smells divine in the store.

I ended up “stranded” there for about an hour a few weeks ago when the service on the island went out and I was waiting for my finace to find me. Everyone was so kind in letting me wait for him there, and I found so many lovely goodies. I had to warn my finace to not let me be stranded there ever again because we would need to buy bigger suitcases next time!

Although Besame doesn’t have an online store, I will be calling to place a few phone orders in the future. Can’t wait to go back!"

"We visited a lot of home decor shops in key west, but ended up making most of our purchases here. Partly because they had some of the most reasonably priced items. But also because the decor had a gentle beach theme that others stores lacked."

A few shops were closed, but only because the season has just begun. Awesome location right on the ocean, one block from museums, treasure shops, and so much more. Great place to visit."

"Outstanding sunset aboard Barefoot Billy’s Tri-toon with Capt John. This was a highlight of our trip and provided some great history and background on so many aspects of the harbor and maritime history of Key West. We were impressed by the stability and comfort of the 25-foot vessel. Capt John optimized our time to show off Key West and arrive at the perfect sunset viewing location. Thanks for a great memory. Look forward to our next visit."

Join Barefoot Billy's on the Seabreeze - a 42ft Corinthian Powercat for a sunset of a lifetime. The unique aspect of the Sunset Harbor cruise is it's departure point. While all the other boat traffic is leaving downtown Key West to catch the sunset, you will be departing from Garrison Bight Marina, traveling through Key West Harbor, passing the famous Southernmost Point and comfortably gliding through the Gulf of Mexico to see panoramic views of the sun melt into the waters. Barefoot Billy's Sunset Harbor Cruise is fully catered and serves up some of the freshest Key West fare. Sushi, Thai appetizers, charcuterie and French desserts are all typically on the menu. The boat itself is very comfortable and spacious, with enough room in the sun or shade for everyone on board and is outfitted with full bathroom facilities.

"I went on an amazing trip with the Honest Eco Ink boat last week. The boat was docked conveniently in downtown key west bight so it was very convenient to walk or bike to. The weather was beautiful and the water was clear. We hit a handful of spots for snorkeling and kayaking and the Ink boat made it easy to do. Captain Evan’s knowledge about all the marine life and ecosystems made the trip even better. The customer service was outstanding from the start with making the reservation, and then on the boat with the captain. They have a great team. I would definitely recommend to friends and family."

"Danger Charters should receive 10 out of 5 stars. The Wind & Wine sunset sail was well worth the money spent. Not only do you witness breathtaking views of sunset, but it also includes a wine tasting paired with appetizers throughout the 2 hour trip. The crew on Sunday evening (8/27/23) were polite, professional, knowledgeable and (the best part) a comical trio. I highly recommend booking this experience today. You'll see lots of other companies claiming they provide the same as Danger Charters - do not be fooled as those are merely "party boats". This is an adult experience with enough space to sit back and relax - core memories were made by all aboard. 🙂

When we return to Key West in the future, I have no doubt that I'll book this same trip again!"

Captain Jack & First Mate Smalls made our group of six feel really special. FM Smalls answered our questions about the island and C Jack provided a very smooth sail. "We booked this trip sort of on a whim, and boy am I glad we did!!! The boat was beautiful, and very well taken care of. The crew was exceptional! They let the kids be a part of the sailing experience by setting the sails, steering the boat, and playing the roll as pirates. Even though the entire crew was fantastic, I’m going to give a special shout-out to my daughters new bestie, Elio. She was hands down the person who made the boat ride a memorable and special adventure for my kids, and even us big kids. Thanks Elio🏴‍☠️❤️
The cannons were a lot of fun, everyone loved it.. even the other boats out on the water, and to top it all off… nothingggggg beats that sunset out on the water, with the salty breeze hitting your face, and the sound of water gently splashing up against the side of the boat.
Thank you Bill, Captain, and Crew! We’ll see ya again.

The sun did not disappoint in it’s gorgeous setting-display, we all took advantage of the light and asked the crew to take our picture in the glow of the setting sun, it was just beautiful.

"If you like the road less traveled, this is the sunset cruise for you. This is the opposite of the typical party boat where you have a small group of folks along with a crew of 2. This is a smaller tall mast sailboat with a Capt'n and first mate. The first mate this night was Trish and she was awesome making sure everyone had a fresh drink (many choices) and setting the sails when needed. We were lucky on Sept 17th with calm seas and an awesome sunset. If you are looking for a great experience on a smaller and quiet boat, the Floridays is a great choice"

"My wife Amanda and I just stepped off the boat, it was a 50th birthday present to her and did not disappoint! Steve was a great Captain chatting with Amanda up on the fly bridge for the ride out. With in 10 minutes of Adam setting up we were on the Mahi. Caught a little throw back Jack and a few throw back Mahi but had a couple good keepers for dinner. Even hooked a juvenile sailfish right at the end that spot the bait out. Luckily he surfaced for me so Adam and I were able to identify him. Perfect 4 hours. Thank you so much guys!"

"What a fantastic way to literally end a Key West day! Everything from start to finish was top rate! The crew were super friendly and so accommodating! We loved that this was a smaller more chill opportunity on an amazing sailboat without the thumping party vibe and motor. We enjoyed mingling with other sunset enthusiasts while being served delicious wine and appetizers. The crew - Tony, Brianna, and Conner were outstanding! Friendly and so much fun! "We booked a half day sand bar trip with Raquel from Fish 'N Chicks and it was by far the best boating trip we’ve done! The boat was spacious and there was enough room for all of our belongings and for our beverages. Raquel was attentive and made sure we were comfortable. We went to two different sand bars and got a chance to see dolphins, stingrays, puffer fish and some trials off the mangroves! I highly recommend!"

"Wow! What a great trip! Patrick is a great guide! The boat was very very clean and he was extremely knowledgeable and had us on fish in minutes of anchoring. My son landed a huge barracuda and my daughter a nice shark!! We couldn't have been happier! Our whole family recommends highly!"

"This was my first time fishing in the Keys. Craig took us out in windy conditions and put us on fish right away. We had so much fun reeling in fish after fish! He was so patient as he showed us the ropes. We had a great evening on the water. I highly recommend Goliath Charters for your next fishing expedition!"

"Reviews are all real. This charter company is the real deal and worth all the hype. Really great people, easy to talk to and flexible. They really know the area well and will provide a fantastic experience. We wanted to do mahi trolling but the Atlantic was too windy so we did bottom fishing on the Gulf side. They have great spots w constant action. Caught way more than we were able to bring in. Fun 8 hour full day. Thanks again Captain & Schmiddty."

"What a lovely experience visiting the Hemingway House and Museum. Our tour started walking through the lush garden area and it was not long before we realized how much cats were a part of the experience. Yes, we saw 6-toed cats, cats on his bed, the cat house, and the cat cemetery. The home was beautiful and contained many old items. Our tour guide gave us one of the best tours I think I’ve ever experienced. He was pleasant, informative, and downright funny. I strongly recommend taking the walking guided tour. The 30 minutes is well worth it."
