Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful lead dazzling royal and social crowd at Vogue World extravaganza in London
What is a red carpet without a healthy dose of rousing royals and sophisticated aristocrats? Last night, in the heart of London’s West End, Vogue turned the Theatre Royal Drury Lane into the host venue of the most stylish event of the year, all in aid of British performing arts, for which it raised £2m. There, the country’s most dazzling swans attended Anna Wintour’s UK Vogue World, a celebration of performing arts and fashion.
A double sister act of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie turned heads: Beatrice arrived in a floral Richard Quinn dress, with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a dashing white suit by her side. Eugenie wore an emerald green gown by Fendi.
The key figures of high society were all on display. Emma, Marchioness of Bath sizzled in a silver Sabina Bilenko couture dress, topped with Louboutin heels, while Lady Victoria Hervey opted for an elegant white caped gown from The Atelier. Ivy Getty was coolly nonchalant in an asymmetric orange silk dress.
Acting legends followed, including Kate Winslet, Simone Ashley, Idris Elba, and Emilia Clarke. Filmmakers such as Sam Mendes and Baz Luhrmann were in attendance, as well as recent Tatler cover star Rita Ora, who dazzled in an Alaïa black dress. Sienna Miller, flashing her baby bump in a Schiaparelli, was the showstopper.
Inside the Royal Drury, performances by FKA Twigs and Stormzy brought the house down. A comedic tribute to My Fair Lady, featuring esteemed acting royalty including Miller, James McAvoy, and Damian Lewis, had the crowd in stitches. To top it off, a rousing finale of Annie Lennox singing Sweet Dreams, as the Supers – Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista – gathered on the runway. When it comes to fashion, high society will always be in Vogue.
