Titans of the art world gathered for the annual Art of Wishes gala at Churchill’s Old War Office
Art aficionados gathered in the newly revamped Raffles London at The OWO to kick off Frieze week in style for the annual The Art of Wishes Gala. Jenny Saville, Phoebe Saatchi-Yates and up-and-coming The Crown star Ed McVey – who will play the young Prince of Wales – sipped on technicolour cocktails in the Lawrence Room. Among the kaleidoscopic lighting and tablecloths designed by artist du jour Yinka Ilori; Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi feasted on sea bass, while Batia Offer discussed back-to-back Frieze schedules with Marina Abramović and art world titan Larry Gagosian. Luke Evans arrived fresh from rehearsals at The Duke of York’s Theatre for his upcoming role as the Queen Mother’s royal courtier, William Tallon, in Backstairs Billy. After dinner, Christie’s Global President, Jussi Pylkkänen, conducted the auction where Jade Fadojutimi’s paintings had Whitehall alight. As the spirited auction came to a close and a staggering £2.6 million raised for Arts of Wishes, 11pm struck and guests descended onto the streets of Whitehall – ready for early morning tours through Regent's Park to mark this year’s Frieze.
