Peter Anthony Taykalo, age 51, gained his wings April 10, 2024. The world was blessed the day he was born August 5, 1972 in Mpls, MN. Peter was born prematurely with a fight for life, a strength to survive and a determination to prosper. Peter attended Holy Angels Academy and was a proud student of the Class of 1990. After graduation he worked in the travel and mortgage fields. Soon after he joined his family in owning the Roadhouse in Minneapolis which was a stepping stone in what was to come. In 1996 Peter married his true love at the age of 24 and in 1999 Peter and Laura started their own adventure in owning and operating Shantytown Bar & Grill in Bloomington, MN. for 23 years until they sold it in December of 2023. Since Peter's mid 20's he was faced with many hurdles. At the age of 24 he was diagnosed with Leukemia and a 3% chance of survival; he beat it. Seven years later remission ended and he underwent eight months of chemotherapy and radiation in preparation of a double non related stem cell transplant. Once again his will for life won the fight. Six years later in Cabo he had a stroke and in 2020 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Through all of the obstacles he never complained. He put his wife, business, family and friends first even at the sacrifice of himself. With his kind and gentle nature Peter made an impact on everyone he met. He is an inspiration to many and will be remembered by all. Peter is survived by his loving wife Laura. Sisters Cheryl (Steve) Huff, Denise Frazee and Kelly (Ryan) Sazama-Hagen.
