The legendary Plaids come back to Earth to spread yuletide joy with the greatest holiday hits of the ages. Filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaid-erized,” our boys are back to do their Christmas Special.
At first, Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren’t sure why they’ve returned to Earth for another posthumous performance, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world.
This truly “heaven-sent” holiday treat will lift audiences’ spirits and fill them with nostalgia for a bygone era of classic music sung in perfect harmony.

You may remember them from last year’s Plaid Tidings or as the choreographer for Anything Goes, Catch Me If You Can, and the Pre-Professional production of Urinetown (Co Director/Choreographer). Xavier also serves as the Academy Director for SDMT. He’s the artistic director and chorus leader for Tremble Clefs, a singing therapy program for people living with Parkinson’s. He also directs the Glenaires choir at La Costa Glen and serves as music director at St. John of the Cross Church. A San Diego native, Matt performs as a soloist throughout the county, as a founding member of The Explorers (San Diego Zoo’s a cappella group) and with the Tinseltone Carolers. They were last seen on the SDMT stage as Thalia in Xanadu and the Purser/Moonface U/S in Anything Goes! Other favorite credits include Ursula in The Little Mermaid, Burrs in The Wild Party, and Simeon in Joseph… When they are not performing, you can find them teaching voice and dance in local SD studios. Finally, they would like to thank their family and friends for all of their love and support!

After graduating from the Naval Academy and serving several years active duty in the Navy, he transitioned into performing and currently is the Marketing and PR Director for San Diego Musical Theatre. Some of his favorite credits include Jesus Christ Superstar and Tarzan (Moonlight), and Fiddler on the Roof, The Addams Family, Anything Goes and Plaid Tidings- 2022 & 2023 (SDMT). Directing credits include The Little Dog Laughed, Catholic School Girls, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (Northern Arizona University). Associate Director: Next to Normal (Huntsman Entertainment), Hairspray (Signature Theatre). He is currently writing a new musical, boy: a new musical, which you can receive more information on its development at www.boyanewmusical.com As an actor, Jonathan was seen on the Broadway National Tour of The Book of Mormon as Elder Cunningham. You may recognize him from SDMT productions such as Young Frankenstein (Igor), The Full Monty (Malcolm), Damn Yankees (Rocky), and First Date (Man 2). Jonathan is no stranger to Plaid Tidings as this is his third venture into this world and is very PLAID to be back and home for CHRISTMAS!

He holds a master’s degree in musical theater from San Diego State University, a bachelor’s degree in stage management from Webster University, and is an adjunct professor of musical theater at San Diego City College and University of San Diego. Locally: Old Globe, Cygnet, Moonlight, Diversionary, SD Rep, SD Opera, SD Civic Light Opera, Triple Espresso, Coronado Playhouse, SD Junior Theatre. Nationally: Radio City Productions, Goodspeed Musicals, St. Louis Rep, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Hope Repertory Theatre, Pearl Theatre, York Theatre, Theater of the Stars, New York University.
