Man: WWE, part of the TKO Group is riding a wave of
momentium. Strike while the iron is hot. Global domination
of the professional wrestling landscape continues.
Premium Live Events is the newer term what previously
were called Pay-Per-View (PPV) events. Under leadership
of Nick Khan and Triple H WWE is powering ahead in
a very much global major event direction, as well
as presenting amazing storytelling and in-ring action,
while the marketing, merch and media arms keep powering
ahead, frequently breaking and smashing records. Back
in our Optus TV PPV and Main Event TV collaboration
work at Optus we always saw the potential of massive
WWE growth, but certainly never saw it getting this
big. - Greg Tingle, Media Man Group

UFC
- Foxtel Group Pay-Per-View Partnership
January
2024
Kayo
Sports (part of The Foxtel Group), out of Australia,
and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
have officially commenced a new multi-year agreement
from January 1, 2024, which sees Main Event
available only on Kayo Sports and Foxtel
become the exclusive home of UFC Pay-Per-View events
down under in Australia aka Terror Australis! The
readership knows we like media on the edge, so we've
got to slip the Aussie slang in every now and again
to suit the theme right.
The
first Pay-Per-View (PPV) exclusive event will see
UFC middleweight Champion Sean "Tarzan"
Strickland make his virgin title defence against South
African Dricus "Stillknocks" Du Plessis
as they marquee UFC 297 direct from Toronto on January
21.
This
partnership casts Main Event as the undisputed home
of PPV in Australia, with a prized tradition of showcasing
the biggest UFC fights across the globe, as well as
being a key part of seeing up and coming top range
fighters climb to the top since 2008.
Under
the terms of the new agreement, fans looking to hit
up a buy of a UFC PPV will be redirected to Foxtel
and Kayo Sports Main Event platform for exclusive
access to world class matches. UFC Fight Pass will
continue to broadcast live UFC fights, including the
Preliminary bouts to UFC PPV events and each UFC Fight
Night event in its entirety, in addition to live and
on-demand combat sports and unforgettable archived
bouts from around the world.
In
addition to all the UFC PPV events, sports fans can
expect a full menu of UFC content, including UFC Fight
Nights, UFC Pay-Per-View Prelims, UFC Countdown, DC
& RC, plus selected titles from UFCs Fight
Library on ESPN, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Ahead
of the UFCs first PPV event in 2024, Australian
foodie critic, MasterChef Australia judge and self-confessed
fanatic Melissa Leong will host UFC Fight Week on
Wednesday, January 17, available on Kayo Sports and
Foxtel. Melissa will be joined by panellists Tyson
Pedro and Dan Hooker as they break down UFC 297 and
interview Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland and
Dricus Du Plessis. The show will be replayed daily
leading up to the event.
UFCs
popularity has boomed since it was first broadcast
in Australia in 2008. There are now in excess of 700
million UFC fans across the globe. In Australia and
New Zealand, UFC counts more than 4.3 million fans
and features the youngest fan base of any professional
sport in Australia with 48 per cent aged between 18-39.
These stats are gold to the business of sports marketing,
sports media and other associated business arms.
Were
excited to strengthen and expand our relationship
with the UFC, the fastest growing sport in the world,
and 2024 will deliver a line-up of epic battles, kicking
on January 21 with UFC 297, said Rebecca McCloy,
executive director of commercial sport at Foxtel Group.
Foxtel
and Kayo Sports are the best sports broadcasters in
the country and they have backed UFC in Australia
since the beginning. Together, we will continue to
grow UFC in Australia and they will be the destination
for the biggest and baddest fights we put on year-round,
said UFC president Dana White.
It
will be a full UFC schedule on Main Event in 2024.
Following UFC 297, all eyes will turn to Australias
fan-favourite UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander
Volkanovski for his much-anticipated title defence
against Georgian Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 in California
on February 18.
Media
Man: Combat sports PPVs certainly have boomed in Australia
since circa 1996 to 2000 when we most closely collaborated
and cross promoted with Main Event while working for
Optus Vision/Communications in a full-time capacity.
The UFC continued to build upon the earlier success
of pro boxing and pro wrestling on pay-per-view. The
YouTube and social media based features are great,
but there's nothing quite like a main event MMA match
on PPV for those who live and breath combat sports.
Many fighters and former fighters these days even
have their own channels across the internet. Exciting
times for combat sports fans as well as for those
who work in and around the industry. Another chance
to ground and pound and KO with the best of them thanks
to the UFC, Kayo Sports and Main Event.

WWE
and Slim Jim return to the ring with a record-breaking
partnership ahead of SummerSlam
3rd
August 2023
WWE
and Slim Jim today announced a multi-layered partnership
that will begin with Slim Jim serving as the Presenting
Sponsor of a marquee match at SummerSlam on Saturday,
Aug. 5 at Ford Field in Detroit. This partnership
between the two iconic brands pays homage to their
shared, savage past and marks the largest sponsorship
deal in WWE history.
WWE
and Slim Jim first crossed paths thirty years ago
with a series of explosive, in-your-face Slim Jim
commercials, featuring Macho Man Randy
Savage debuting the famous tagline Snap Into
a Slim Jim! that has remained a hallmark of
the Slim Jim brand ever since. The two global brands
will tap into that rich history with a reenergized,
multi-platform campaign which begins with The
SummerSlam Battle Royal Presented by Slim Jim,
the first of several custom integrations at WWEs
Premium Live Events. As part of the pact, Slim Jim
will also activate at Survivor Series in November,
in addition to Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40 in
2024.
Alongside
our partners at Slim Jim and Conagra Brands, WWE is
excited to renew one of the most memorable collaborations
in sports entertainment history and theres no
better way to kick off the partnership than a 20-man
Battle Royal at SummerSlam, said Craig Stimmel,
WWE SVP, Head of Global Sales and Partnerships.
Slim
Jim has always been about crushing boredom and doing
the unexpected, which is also the cornerstone of WWE
and their memorable lineup of bold, in-your-face Superstars,
said Spencer Fivelson, VP & General Manager of
Snacks at Conagra Brands. Were thrilled
to be back in the ring with WWE to build on our shared
history and celebrate the savage energy of todays
WWE Superstars.
In
addition to the live event integrations, the WWE and
Slim Jim partnership will include custom content and
social media executions with Superstar talent, online
sweepstakes to drive fan engagement, in-store activations
and more.

Logan
Paul @LoganPaul and KSI @KSI will fight on the same
card together. The rivals-turned-Prime business partners
will headline a DAZN pay-per-view card on October
14 in Manchester. KSI via Instagram: The PRIME card
is here! "We will both fight on the same night
for the first time since our rematch in 2019, live
on DAZN @DAZNBoxing PPV. Opponents will be announced
soon."
Mams
Taylor, KSI's manager, commented: "The most epic
card in history incoming. Guaranteed!" KSI, 30,
drew with Paul, 28, in 2018 before winning the rematch
a year later by split-decision when they turned pro.
Paul
is also signed to the world's largest/leading pro
wrestling promotion, the WWE @WWE and has been able
to showcase his energy drink Prime @PrimeHydrate a
number of times as part of his pro wrestling/sports
entertainment deal.
The
WWE used to have PPV (Pay-Per-View) events but over
the past few years migrated over to a PLE (Premium
Live Event) and streaming service model, originally
the WWE Network @WWENetwork , before many countries
got the service and the former PPV's via a local media
company. In Australia for example what was previously
WWE Network content moved over to Binge @binge . Are
you following us still?!
Streaming
service lingo also included OTT (Over the top), the
service - not the movies and docos of the same name.
Media Man wishes Paul, KSI and their boxing squad
well in their upcoming bouts.
The
Media Man Group is currently increasing its streaming,
PPV and combat sports coverage as the industry continues
to be disrupted, with modest zine media firms such
as MMA also doing some of the disrupting! As Aussie
MMA (UFC @ufc ) living legend Volk told us during
the week via a live mic, "what an exciting time"..(to
be in the UFC), but the statement also holds much
truth for the overall state of fighting sports as
each fight promotion continues to carve our their
own niche. The gloves are just about off in the world
of fight promotions, but rivals still show respect
for competing outfits, as well they might, as fighters
are known to change "mobs" and promoters
from time to time. Logan Paul (and his brother Jake
Paul), as well as KSI, remain well placed to cash
in on the ongoing battles in and out of the ring.
Paul
has also had a recent back and forward with Aussie
grappler Grayson Waller @GraysonWWE ..but now it appears
they are more mates than rivals. 'The Rock's @TheRock
name also gets dropped on the Paul podcasts from time
to time. These Paul's are heat and headline generators.
Part of the name of the game, and they know it! It's
a Win-Win-Win as society shows little in the way of
loosing their primal instinct for a good old fashioned
fight (with a dash of social media on top to boot).
Foxtel
Group Becomes Exclusive Provider Of UFC Pay Per View
Events In Australia
New
Multi-Year Agreement Gives Foxtel and ayo Sports Subscribers
Exclusive Access to Purchase UFCs Biggest Events
2023
UFC,
the worlds premier mixed martial arts organization,
and Foxtel Group today announced a new multi-year
agreement that will make Foxtel and Kayo Sports the
exclusive distributor of all UFC Pay Per Views in
Australia.
Starting
in January 2024, all UFC Pay Per View events will
be broadcast exclusively on Main Event on Foxtel and
Kayo Sports, while Foxtel will also remain the exclusive
UFC Commercial Pay Per View provider through its commercial
arm Foxtel for Business. The agreement extends UFCs
long-standing relationship with Foxtel Group, which
first began broadcasting UFC programming in 2008.
I
am excited that we are extending our broadcast partnership
with Foxtel Group, said UFC President, Dana
White. Foxtel and Kayo Sports are the best sports
broadcasters in the country, and they have backed
UFC in Australia since the beginning. Together, we
will continue to grow UFC in Australia, and they will
be the destination for the biggest and baddest fights
we put on year-round. I cant wait to get back
to Sydney for UFC 293 this September. See you then
Australia!
Foxtel
Group CEO, Patrick Delany, said: For 15 years
we have been bringing the biggest UFC fights to Australian
audiences and this new agreement will extend and elevate
that partnership on the cusp of a golden era for the
sport. UFC boasts one of the youngest fan bases of
any professional sport in the country and its
exciting to continue our partnership with a brand
that has such enormous growth potential both
at home and abroad. Its the perfect match for
our more than 3 million sports subscribers streaming
on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Following
a three-year absence, UFC returned to Australia earlier
this year in February with UFC 284: MAKHACHEV VS.
VOLKANOVSKI at RAC Arena in Perth. The event recorded
a gate of AUS $5.8M (USD $3.9M), making it the highest-grossing
event ever for any arena in Australia. Ten fighters
from Australia and New Zealand appeared on the card,
including current UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander
The Great Volkanovski, Jack Della Maddalena,
Justin Tafa, Jimmy Crute, Joshua Culibao, and Jamie
Mullarkey, highlighting the level of MMA talent in
UFC from the region.
Following
this hugely successful return, UFC will cement its
commitment to the market with UFC 293 scheduled to
take place on Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Sunday,
September 10. The event will mark UFCs first
return to Sydney since 2017 and its first Pay Per
View in Sydney since 2011. UFCs return to Sydney
is a result of its new partnership with the New South
Wales (NSW) Government through its Tourism and Events
agency Destination NSW and will be the first of three
Pay-Per-View events to be held in Sydney over the
next four years.
UFCs
popularity has soared since it was first broadcast
in Australia in 2008. There are now more than 700
million UFC fans across the globe, including a total
of 243 million followers across UFCs social
media channels. In Australia and New Zealand combined,
UFC counts more than 4.3 million fans and 6 million
social media followers and features one of the youngest
fan bases of any professional sport in Australia,
with 48% aged between 18-39.
Since
2010, UFC has presented 16 live events in Australia,
including sold-out shows at Sydneys Qudos Bank
Arena, Melbournes Rod Laver Arena, Perth Arena,
Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Adelaide Entertainment
Centre and Gold Coast Convention Centre. These events
have had a combined attendance of over 280,000 fans,
with millions more watching on Pay Per View and broadcast
television globally.
WWE
Night Of Champions Reportedly Earned Highest Viewership
Of Any Saudi Arabia Show - 31st May 2023
According
to a report from Fightful Select, Saturday's Night
of Champions PLE scored WWE the highest viewership
out of any of the company's Saudi Arabia events since
the partnership between the two began in 2013. The
report states that Night of Champions brought in an
18% increase in viewership compared to last year's
Crown Jewel event, and the company is reportedly quite
happy with its holiday weekend results.
Night
of Champions was headlined by Kevin Owens and Sami
Zayn successfully defending the Undisputed WWE Tag
Team Championship against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa
of The Bloodline, with a major angle taking place
on the show that saw The Usos turn on Reigns after
more than a year of build-up and tension. This marks
the second time a tag team match has served as the
main event of a major WWE show in recent months. Additional
matches on the show included Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles
to decide the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion,
a singles match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus,
and a Backlash rematch pitting Brock Lesnar against
Cody Rhodes, among others.
To
date, WWE has held nine PPVs and PLEs in Saudi Arabia,
along with three house shows. Back in 2019, WWE announced
that they had "expanded their partnership"
with Saudi Arabia, and that they would be hosting
two major events per year in the Middle Eastern nation
through at least 2027. Though it hasn't been announced
yet, WWE will likely return to Saudi Arabia for another
Crown Jewel event later this year.
