Sony is developing an adaptive gaming controller for its hit PS5 console to help those with motoric disabilities join in the fun. Now, there are even more options for gamers with Logitech announcing an add-on for Sony's own kit. In a blog post on the development of Sony's Acess controller, the company announced Logitech's own Adaptive Gaming Kit for Access controller. Developed in collaboration with Sony and the accessibility community, the Logitech accessory kit adds more options for even more diverse needs by the community of gamers who need controller accommodations. Of course, Sony isn't the only (of even the first) one to make something like this. Microsoft's Xbox has its own adaptive controller, too. Logitech/Sony "While the Access controller is designed as an “out of the box” solution for many players with disabilities, there is a wide spectrum of diverse needs within the accessibility community," wrote Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president at Sony Interactive Entertainment. "Today, we’re also very happy to introduce the Logitech G Adaptive Gaming Kit for Access controller, an official accessory kit developed by Logitech in collaboration with our SIE team and the accessibility community." The Logitech kit includes eight "plug-and-play" buttons and triggers that plug into Sony's Access controller that players can swap, assign to different functions, and label with included stickers. There will be two small and two large buttons, two light-touch buttons, and two variable trigger controls to fully customize your gaming experience. The system also comes with gaming mats that can hook the buttons and triggers to for a consistent layout. You can also use included Velcro ties to mount the switches and triggers to objects like wheelchair armrests. The Logitech G Adaptive Gaming Kit for Access controller will be available globally starting January 24, 2024 for $79.99 in the US, $109.99 in Canada, and €79.99 and £69.99 in the EU and UK, respectively.
