Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit began their annual residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Thursday night. The band kicked off the run by playing the album Southeastern in its entirety.

Jason Isbell released Southeastern on Southeastern Records in 2013. An expanded, 10th-anniversary edition of the album was recently issued featuring previously unreleased demos and live recordings.

Thursday’s concert saw Kim Richey joining the band during the Southeastern part of the show. Richey came out to sing on “Stockholm” and “Relatively Easy,” just as she did on the original album.

Following the album presentation, the second half of the show was made up of selections from the band’s 2023 album Weathervanes, “King of Oklahoma,” “When We Were Close,” “Middle of the Morning” and “Cast Iron Skillet,” as well as the classic “Alabama Pines.” Guitarist Sadler Vaden also led the group through a cover of Drivin’ n’ Cryin’s “Honeysuckle Blue.”

Night one of The Ryman residency came to a close with an encore consisting of “24 Frames” and “If We Were Vampires.” View footage captured by audience members at last night’s concert below:
