The tale of roots-rock outfit From Good Homes is told in new documentary Charlie Loves Our Band. The feature-length film will have its public premiere on Friday, December 15 at The Williams Center in Rutherford, New Jersey, which will be followed by a Q&A and performance by the band.

Childhood friends Patrick Fitzsimmons, Brady Rymer and Todd Sheaffer grew up together in Sparta, New Jersey forging a bond over their shared passion for music. The three pals formed From Good Homes in 1990 with Jamie Coan and Dan Myers. FGH built a loyal grassroots following throughout the 1990s thanks to their inventive songwriting and strong live performances. The quintet put out a series of studio albums including two on major label RCA before breaking up in 1999.

Former tour manager and filmmaker Vic Guadagno was along for the ride and put together Charlie Loves Our Band. Guadagno had access to approximately 300 hours of video and thousands of hours of audio recordings to use in creating the documentary. He also utilized footage from recent reunion concerts as well as interviews with band members, fans and music-industry professionals.

Sheaffer went on to co-found Railroad Earth, while Rymer has garnered multiple Grammy nominations for his children’s music. From Good Homes still gather each year for a reunion show. In 2019 the group issued their sixth album, Time & The River. “Devoted fans who don’t just see an occasional show, but see every show possible, and become friendly with other diehards, and basically live for the music in a way that goes way beyond traditional fandom,” wrote journalist Jay Lustig of From Good Homes’ fervent followers.

Tickets for the screening, Q&A and live performance are on sale now. Purchase tickets via The Williams Center’s website.
