BALTIMORE, September 12, 2023―Jacqueline A. Brooks has joined Duane Morris LLP as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group in its Baltimore office. Prior to joining Duane Morris, Brooks was a partner at Saul Ewing LLP. At Duane Morris, Brooks will serve as chair of the firm’s newly established REIT Division within its Corporate practice.

“I am so excited that, in adding Jacque’s considerable talents and experience, we are able to establish a new Corporate practice division in the fast-paced REIT environment,” said Duane Morris Chairman and CEO Matthew A. Taylor. “Our strategic growth trajectory continues, and more is ahead.”

“With broad client and advisory experience and deep knowledge of business and commercial law, Jacque will harness our considerable capabilities in support of REIT transactions,” said Brian P. Kerwin, chair of Duane Morris’ Corporate Practice Group. “Overall, our practice group continues to grow in meaningful ways, especially in terms of adding value to our client work.”

“Our Baltimore office has experienced terrific growth over the past year, and I am pleased that Jacque will contribute her talents as an attorney and thought leader to our Mid-Atlantic team,” said Michael C. Hardy, managing partner of the firm’s Baltimore office.

Brooks concentrates her practice in business and commercial law. She counsels clients in mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance, private offerings of debt and equity securities, corporate and REIT governance and shareholder derivative and dispute matters, including shareholder demand responses and special committee issues. She has experience representing public companies, privately owned and managed companies, nonprofit organizations and startup companies, and provides general counsel to these organizations regarding corporate matters. The depth of Brooks’ knowledge about corporate law is reflected in her co-authorship of “Maryland Corporate Practice and Forms,” a comprehensive guide with more than 1,400 pages of content about statues and regulations relevant to corporate legal practice with discussions and analyses of changing Maryland state laws.

“The Duane Morris platform offers me growth opportunities to expand my practice, and I am particularly pleased that my background and experience can be an immediate catalyst for growth within the Corporate Practice Group,” said Brooks. “Additionally, I appreciate the firm’s      collaborative and collegial culture and its longstanding internal emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Brooks is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law (J.D., 2006) and Georgia Southern University (B.A., magna cum laude, 2003).
