The family has been hugely impacted by cancer, with Bernie Nolan sadly passing away in July 2013 at the age of 52.

The singer and actress lost her three-year battle with cancer after first being diagnosed with the disease back in 2010.

The late star left behind husband Steve Doneathy and daughter Erin, now 24.

Bernie quit The Nolans in 1994 to focus on her solo career, before turning her hand to acting with roles in The Bill and Brookside.

Eldest sister Anne, 72, also contracted breast cancer alongside sister Linda before being given the 'all clear' in 2020.

She  was married to footballer Brian Wilson from 1979 to 2007, and the couple have two daughters Amy and Alex.

The sisters underwent chemotherapy during the Covid pandemic, where restrictions prevented them from being accompanied by other members of the family for support.

In an extract from their book Stronger Together, shared by The Mirror, Anne credited Linda for helping her through the therapy, which left her with traumatic side-effects

'When [other sister] Maureen called to say Linda and I could have our chemotherapy treatment together, I cried with relief. We've shared every emotion – the highs and the lows – and we are stronger together because of it,'

Anne previously discussed with MailOnline the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her later father Tommy Nolan.

Bravely writing: 'At 11-years old] I trusted him. Maybe this was something dads did with their daughters. My overwhelming reaction was one of puzzlement. I remember thinking to myself: 'Why is Dad doing this?'.

Denise, 70, left the act in 1978, following the release of their platinum selling album 20 Giant Hits to go solo.

She's since appeared in over 38 pantos and spent three years playing Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers, both in the West End and on tour.

She rejoined her singing sisters in their reality shows The Nolans Go Cruising and spin-off At Home with The Nolans, which were aired in 137 countries.

Last year, she released her solo album For You, My Love, to five star reviews and saw her become the only Nolan to have had a Top 20 album, peaking at No.17. Bernie and Anne had released albums prior.

Linda was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2005 before getting the all-clear in 2006, but in 2017 was diagnosed with a form of incurable secondary cancer in her hip, which later spread to her liver in 2020.

Before making it big with her sisters she released a 1981 song with younger sibling Coleen as part of The Young Moody Band.

After pop super stardom she went on to star in numerous musicals and clocked up over 1,000 performances in Maggie May on Blackpool Pier. She's also appeared in Prisoner Cell Block H: The Musical, with Lily Savage and Menopause The Musical.

Bernie, Denise, Linda and Maureen have all starred as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers, both in the West End at the Phoenix Theatre and on tour. They're even in the Guinness World Record for the most sisters to play the same role in a musical.

In 2018, Linda released her autobiography From My Heart, which was a Sunday Times Bestseller.

Saucy Linda also raised a few eyes brows during her time in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2017 she had had sex with 'loads of men' in front of her late husband Brian Hudson, saying: 'I'm a Nolan not a nun!'.
