Responses by Obys and The Web Guys.

Background: “Autex Acoustics is a high-end manufacturer of acoustic panels,” Obys explains. “Companies and individuals can buy panels for walls, ceilings, screens and other applications. A lot of educational, hospitality, art and cultural institutions use Autex’s products for public and technical spaces.”

Design core: “Grid-based layouts, typography, the integration of company identity into the website design and microinteractions,” says Obys. “Our goal was to incorporate Autex’s amazing identity into the website while maintaining our love for strong typography and grids.”

Favorite details: “Through our successful organization of a vast amount of information and the nice integration of the identity into the website design, we were able to create distinctive, exceptional elements,” says Obys. “Furthermore, we included numerous interactive blocks throughout the site to enhance the user’s experience when interacting with the information.”

“The creative solutions around the design and development of the project exceeded client expectations and ended up fostering an ongoing relationship that will be nurtured over the coming years,” says The Web Guys. “We are proud because this client satisfaction is what we strive to achieve. The attention to detail across all 30 unique page designs and the effort we took to make sure they all ran seamlessly once developed was noticed by the client.”

Challlenges: “It was interesting to not only work with the UI part of the site, but it was also necessary to think over a convenient, understandable UX on functional pages,” says Obys. “In addition to the usual information pages of the site, we needed to work on a catalog of all panels, as well as a constructor with the ability to change the color, texture and other characteristics of panels. What was unchallengeable was the website’s size and the necessity to present all the information and functionality in a user-friendly way.”

Time constraints: “Transparency around deadlines and what was achievable within the timeframe is always appreciated and expected when we initiate projects,” says The Web Guys. “We communicated that a site of this size would take time, and this was respected as ‘good things take time.’ It all paid off in the end: a beautiful website with a few awards under the belt and the whole team at Autex happy with the final result.”

New lessons: “Working with PNG sequences to create on-scroll interactive animations was a new experience for us,” says The Web Guys. “It was worth it in the end and gave certain pages an extra level of engagement for the user.”

Navigation structure: “The client already had a website that contained a lot of information,” Obys says. “We needed to do research and, based on the updated site structure, create a more user-friendly form of navigation. During prototyping, we consulted a lot with the client to organize the navigation in the best possible way.

“Since the site has about 30 unique pages, the navigation is also unusual,” Obys continues. “In an effort to improve UX on the website, we made some changes on the menu. Specifically, we replaced Autex’s previous full-screen burger menu with a new sticky header that displays the main areas of the site. This change will allow users to easily access the different sections of the website without having to navigate through a full-screen menu, ultimately providing a more efficient, streamlined browsing experience. Therefore, we came to the decision that almost every menu item has double and, on some pages, triple nesting so that users can go directly to any desired section of the site.”

Technology: “For the front end, we used React. The back end is a WordPress CMS. We used Mapbox GL JS for map features and PNG sequences for on-scroll animations,” explains The Web Guys. “SEO is a major part of our ongoing client relationships; it’s important for us to retain and exceed expectations with this service. We’re continuing to improve Autex’s online presence by working closely with the company to achieve all of its business goals moving forward.”
