Summit County Ski Season Preview!

With winter on the horizon, the snow guns are up and running, and the excitement is here in Summit County. The unofficial kickoff to ski season starts with the Ski area’s COO Summit which took place on Friday, October 13th. This is an event that features 5 resorts: Loveland, A-Basin, Copper, Keystone, and Breckenridge.  Chief Operating Officers of each resort wrap up their accomplishments from the prior year as well as bring the stoke for this upcoming season. Here’s your sneak peek, complete with new offerings and eco-friendly initiatives.

Opening Dates and What’s New?

1. Loveland Ski Area: Look forward to Loveland’s signature early opening, promising thrilling slopes for avid skiers and snowboarders. Scheduled for November 3rd there was some friendly competition at the Summit to compete by opening 1 day before A-Basin or Keystone. For a small independent ski area, they have an outstanding learning area and facilities for everyone.

2. Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin): “The Legend” never truly announces their opening day. A-Basin races against the clock to beat Keystone every year. A-Basin is not only a paradise for snow enthusiasts but also a trailblazer in sustainability. By 2025, they are set to become carbon neutral, showcasing their commitment to preserving our beautiful mountain environment. They are also working on re-doing the master plan to include new lifts and more green terrain in the upcoming years.

3. Keystone Resort: Set to open “as early as possible in October” in the race with Loveland and A-Basin. Keystone’s expansion of Bergman Bowl lift opens a vast terrain of bowls and glades, 550 new acres to be exact. Adventure seekers, get ready for uncharted territories and unforgettable moments, this lift is scheduled to open mid-December or January.

4. Copper Mountain: November 13th is the Day Copper is set to start turning its lifts. Copper is known for having one of the longest seasons targeted to athletes and park riders.  This year, Aeire, their brand-new on-mountain dining facility is expected to open. Expect exquisite culinary delights and a cozy ambiance, the perfect way to unwind after a day on the slopes.

5. Breckenridge Ski Resort: Breckenridge’s transformation at Peak 8 is a game-changer. With the Char 5 high-speed quad, accessing the mountain’s wonders is faster and more convenient. Plus, the new learning area ensures that everyone, regardless of experience, can enjoy the slopes safely.  All these great new features to the base are set to open November 10th.
