Public Areas

Forums and message boards are available to you through the Website. Please understand that any information (including but not limited to digital files and poll responses) you disclose in such public areas becomes public information. In addition, any information (including but not limited to digital files and poll responses) you discuss in private areas becomes accessible by any other person with the appropriate website permissions to view that area. We have no control over its use and encourage you to exercise caution when deciding what information to share.

Email Tracking

We send all new users an email to verify their email address, and a welcome email. We also send the user site and service announcement updates. We may also contact you from time to time to ask you to update your profile details. A user cannot opt out of receiving these communications, which contain important information about the Website.

Promotional e-mails sent to you may contain tracking information which allows us to assess whether the e-mail message meets its objectives. This includes monitoring e-mail open activity and subsequent click-through and further website activity. Information collected via this method is not shared with any third parties unless we are asked by the authorities and/or required to do so by law.

When distributing Third Party Content we may share broad demographic information such as e-mail open and click-through rates with our partners to enable them to assess the effectiveness of their message.

Your Personal Information

We will NOT sell, trade, give away, or be careless with your email address, address, name and personal details. We're every bit as tired of spam and unsolicited contacts as we bet you are.

We will send you our newsletter only from our Daily Bits page or other clearly marked places on the site. If you contact us using any of our forms or comments boards, you will not be added to the Newsletter list unless you also request to be.

Advertisements

We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

Additionally, we may collect information through Google Analytics features including Demographics and Interest reporting, Remarketing, and GDN Impression Reporting, via Google advertising cookies and/or anonymous identifiers. Advertisements appearing on any of our websites may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. BitsDuJour is committed to protecting the privacy needs of children, and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. BitsDuJour does not intentionally collect information from children under the age of 13, and BitsDuJour does not target its web site to children.

When using the Website, you may choose to limit public viewing of applicable personal information through the settings located in the Settings section of your account. All of your personally identifiable information held by BitsDuJour can be found in the Settings section of your account.

BitsDuJour will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your explicit permission or are required by law to do so. BitsDuJour Facebook app

The BitsDuJour Facebook app allows users to see BitsDuJour deals within Facebook.

If users grand permission, the BitsDuJour Facebook app aallows access to the user's Facebook profile and email for the sole and express perpose of displaying BitsDuJour software promotions to the user.

Users may request deletion of any or all of their personal data connected to the BitsDuJour Facebook app, by using the “Contact” link at the bottom of this page.

Phishing and Identity Theft

We will never send you emails asking you to send personal, financial, or credit card information. We will never send you emails asking you to log in to what looks like a legitimate URL and confirm that kind of information.

If you get an email that looks like it's from us and asks for that kind of info, do NOT respond to it or click on any of its links, no matter how official or convincing it looks. If you get any scam that claims to be sent from us, please send it to us.

Emails like that - from any site - are almost always fraudulent attempts to get your information ("phishing"). We strongly recommend never filling in any information on a web page you've gotten to by clicking an email link, and being very careful in general about clicking email links.
